DUSHANBE, April 23, 2014, Asia-Plus — Speaking at a joint meeting of both chambers of the parliament, President Emomali Rahmon noted on April 23 that 362 million somoni had been allocated over the previous fifteen years for development of education and science.
“In the coming seven years, more than 600 million somoni will be allocated for this sector,” Rahmon said, noting that the government and the people are waiting for new discoveries from Tajik scientists.
“Science must serve people and support achievement of the strategic goals such as ensuring energy and food security and bringing the country out of the transportation deadlock,” the president said.
He called on parents to pay more attention to education of their children.
The president ordered the Ministry of Education and Science to prepare annual ranking for Tajik universities.
He promised that the level of Tajikistan’s education system would approximate to international standards by 2020.
