Seven killed, four injured in traffic accident in Khatlon

DUSHANBE, July 23, Asia-Plus — Seven persons were killed and four others were injured Sunday as two cars collided in the Khatlon province, according to the Tajik traffic police directorate. 

The accident took place in the Khuroson district.  Nexia driven by Nourullo Kholov moving from Dushanbe to Qurghon Teppa appeared to have gone into oncoming traffic and collided with Opel-Astra that was moving from the Vose district.  As a result of the collision, the driver of Opel-Astra and two his passengers, as well as four passengers of Nexia died on the scene of accident.  Four other persons sustained serious injuries and were taken to the central district hospital in Khuroson.

Habibullo Munavvarov, a spokesman for the Tajik traffic police, told Asia-Plus that another fatal traffic accident was reported yesterday in the Rasht district.  Two persons were killed and one other was injured as a car ran into the tree, the spokesman said.  

In all, 32 traffic accidents were registered in Tajikistan last week.  16 persons were killed and 36 others were injured in those accidents.
