Over the first six months of this year, the Sughd prosecutor’s office has investigated 1,021 criminal cases and 580 of them have already moved to courts, Sughd chief prosecutor Habibullo Vohidov told reporters in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province, on July 25.
“Over the report period, eight murders have been reported in the province, which was eight cases less than in the same period last year,” the prosecutor noted.
Besides, 140 corruption-related crimes, 40 crimes related to embezzlement or misappropriation of funds and 30 bribery-related crimes have been reported in the province over the same six-month period, Vohidov said.
According to him, 3,357 crimes have been reported in Sughd in January-June this year, which is 28 cases or 0.84 percent fewer than in the same period last year.
91.5 percent of all the crimes reported over the first six months of this year were solved, the prosecutor said.
Vohidov also noted that over the reported period, criminal proceedings have been instituted against five law enforcement officers; one of them faced charges of corruption, while the four others faced charges of abuse of authority.
