An agreement on opening representative offices of the Sughd Free Economic Zone (FEZ Sughd) in the Chinese cities of Xi’an and Shanghai has reportedly been reached during a recent visit of the head of the FEZ Sughd Administration, Firdavs Olimzoda, to China.
Olimzoda visited China to participate in an extended meeting of the Alliance for Development of Industrial Parks that took place in Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi Province, according to the FEZ Sughd press center.
The representative offices will promote interests of the FEX Sughd for the purpose of attracting investments and establishing companies, conducting consultations and carrying out organizational work, the press center said.
In a statement released at the meeting, Olimzoda reportedly presented potential of the FEZ Sughd to representatives of Chinese and international companies.
The visit has resulted in signing of quadrilateral agreement on cooperation between Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, FEZ Sughd, Chanba (phonetically spelled) Economic Zone and Huahe International Company
The Sughd Free Economic Zone or FEZ Sughd is a free economic zone located in the northern Sughd province on the territory of the south-west industrial zone of the city of Khujand. FEZ Sughd was created in 2008 by a parliamentary decree on 320 hectares of land for 25 years and began operating in August 2009. To-date, the Administration of the FEZ Sughd has twenty-five corporate residents of the free economic zone. The zone offers customs and tax incentives to qualified investors that invest at least 500,000 USD and import at least 90% of the technology and equipment.
