Kulob legislature repeals inviolability of its member facing bribery charges

KULOB, July 24, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Upon the recommendation of the Khatlon chief prosecutor, an extraordinary 18th session the Kulob city legislature (Majlis) has adopted the decision to repeal inviolability of its member, Farishtamoh Solehova, who faces bribery charges, the Kulob prosecutor Nasrullo Mahmoudov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, they will now continue investigating into case of Farishtamoh Solihova, who is deputy director of the Kulob Center for Reproductive Health and Family Planning.

We will recall that Ms. Farishtamoh Solehova was detained on April 30 on suspicion of having been involved in bribery.  Solehova demanded 500 somonis from woman in childbirth Nadezhda Shamsiyeva for delivery.  Although child was born dead, Solehova on April 30 received 400 somonis from Shamsiyeva’s husband.  She was caught red-handed when she was taking money.
