Uzbekistan stops membership in EuoroAsian Economic Community (EurAsEC). The reasons of such action are not clear, but this decision was made after the EU stopped the sanctions to Uzbekistan that were introduced after Andijan events, reported newspaper “Kommersant”.
EurAsEC is the international economy organizations with functions connected with establishing common customs borders for Member States, development of unitary internal economic policy, tariffs, prices, and other components of the market. Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan are Members of this organization, since 2002 Moldavia and Ukraine, since 2003 Armenia are observers in this organization.
“Uzbekistan exit from EurAsEC does not prove that Tashkent radically change external political priorities. But this decision has the symbolic meaning. This is the demonstration act. Even if Uzbekistan is going to West, it is possible to expect Uzbekistan wish to exit from CSTO. But there were no statements of Uzbekistan CSTO exit from Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” reported “Kommersant”.
