Employment and food security are the most topical issues for Central Asia in the conditions of the global financial crisis at present.
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have a number of joint projects, Zautbek Turisbekov, Kazakh Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Uzbekistan said at the meeting with journalists on Monday.
Along with water problems Central Asia faces problem of provision with food. Taking into consideration demographic tendencies food prices will rise constantly, Ambassador added.
In this context Uzbekistan can cover needs of many countries with agrarian sector products. They are fruits, vegetables and other products in large volumes. Along with this, Kazakhstan can increase production of grain and beef and dairy products both for domestic consumption and for export.
“We propose Uzbekistan futures contracts. Kazakhstan is ready to finance those Uzbek farm households which need it and after harvesting farmers will ditribute final product. Such enterprises can be established in Kazakhstan for growing durum wheat and manufacturing of beef and dairy products,” Turisbekov said.
Another project is establishment of factories on horticultural products processing and manufacturing of preserves in Saryagash village of South Kazakhstan Region. Project will be financed by Russia which is always interested in import of agricultural products.
