On March 17 2009 the UNDP project “Capacity Building for Clean Development Mechanism in Uzbekistan” in cooperation with the German Energy Agency DENA will conduct a workshop to educate Uzbek specialists in the field of CDM project development.
The workshop is targeted at representatives of major companies in the Oil & Gas, Energy and Municipal sectors and intends to promote an exchange of experience on CDM project implementation between German experts and national project developers, reports Uzreport.
On March 18th the mission will visit 2 potential CDM project sites: a small hydropower plant “Kamolot” and a bio-gas installation at the “Milk Agro” farm and discuss possible cooperation in the field of Energy including renewable energy sources.
The third mission on March 19 will be dedicated to meeting members from key ministries. The morning meeting is in SJC “Uzbekenergo”; the agenda will include the discussion of a number of CDM projects on high voltage power transmission lines in different regions of the Republic, as well as predictions for the implementation of removable energy sources for electricity production. The afternoon meeting at NHC “Uzbekneftegas” plans to focus on existing CDM projects in the Oil & Gas sector and discuss potential German investments in this sector.
The Energy Agency DENA is the competence centre for energy efficiency and renewable energies. Its many objectives include rational and environmentally friendly production, conversion and use of energy, and the development of sustainable energy systems with a greater emphasis on renewable energy sources.
Together with DENA the mission will be represented by FutureCamp GmbH company offering consulting services on emissions trading and climate strategy and innovation management.
The project hopes that the attention and interest of highly experienced German companies combined with the efforts of the national CDM project developers will result in fruitful and mutually beneficial collaboration on the implementation of CDM projects.
