Uzbek society quite naturally traces and notes new initiatives in USA administration activity after election of Barack Obama as a President, in particular, Obama”s speech in Cairo University, as reported by informational agency “Jahon”affiliated with Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 9.
“Obama”s speech it first of all a confirmation of the leading role of realism and pragmatism in US administration foreign policy, this is call to break the vicious cycle of mistrust and confrontation with Muslim World, this is an address to put an end to negative stereotypes about Islam, wherever they come from, to give a beginning to the new era of US and Islamic World relations. This is a striving to find new ways of cooperation between USA and Muslims of the whole world in interests of peace, justice, and progress,” message stated.
Message also highlighted “pragmatism of declared foreign policy course of Obama”s administration referring to the question of so called “spread of democracy” policy. The main point of declared new approaches to this problem is that any imposition of one”s own values to other countries with “absolutely different history and culture” is counter-productive. “It is important to be a good example to follow oneself, continuing to protect democracy, supremacy of law, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, as universal values, equally important for everyone.”
“Such sound, real approach to solving very important problems today will, by all means, find a positive response from international community,” Uzbekistan considers.
