DUSHANBE, April 12, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament has approved amendment to the Family Code prohibiting foreign citizens from adopting Tajik children.
A regular sitting of the second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon presided over by its chairman, Saydullo Khairulloyev, was held on April 12.
Parliamentarians endorsed a bill on amendments made to the country’s Family Code.
During the sitting it was noted that the UN Convention on Child’s Rights does not eliminate the possibility of adoption of children of one countries by citizens of other countries but this measure in the Convention has a recommendation character.
Parliamentarians also endorsed the amendment to the Family Code giving concrete expression to child’s rights.
