Three killed, four injured in Sughd traffic accident

KHUJAND, August 24, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Three persons were killed and at least four others were injured on August 22 as two vehicles collided in Bobojonghafurov district, Sughd province.

According to the Sughd police directorate, the accident took place near the settlement of Kistakuz Monday night, at around 10:30 pm.

“Konibodom resident Dilshod Qodirov, 35, could not control his Opel-Vectra and crashed it into a truck ZIL-130 that was parked on a roadside,” said the source, “As a result of the collision, three passengers were killed and Qodirov himself and three other passengers sustained various injuries and were taken to the Bobojonghafurov central district hospital.”

According to the statistical data from the Sughd traffic police department, 190 traffic accidents have been reported in northern Tajikistan over the first seven months of this year.  84 persons were killed and 198 others were injured in those accidents.
