Regional meeting of CIS border service heads takes place in Dushanbe today

DUSHANBE, February 28, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Regional meeting of CIS border service heads is taking place in Dushanbe today.

Khoushnoud Rahmatulloyev, a spokesman to the Main Border Guard Directorate within the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), says senior representatives of border services from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan as well as representatives of the Coordinating Service at the CIS Council of Border Troops Commanders, CIS Executive Committee and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are taking part in the meeting.

According to him, draft decision of the CIS Council of Heads of Government on additional measures to strengthen security on external borders of the CIS nations is the focus of the meeting.

The meeting is expected to result in signing of a number of documents on further expansion of cooperation between border services in exchange of information on border violators, Rahmatulloyev added.
