Police officers seized over 145 kilos of narcotics in northern Tajikistan in H1 2012

KHUJAND, July 5, 2012 Asia-Plus  — Officers from the Interior Ministry’s office in Sughd province have seized more than 145 kilograms of narcotics over the fist six months of this year, which is 137 kilograms fewer than in the same period last year, Nasim Olimov, chief of the analytical unit within the Sughd department for combating drug trafficking (drug police), told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon.

A totaled reportedly included more than 22 kilograms of heroin, nine kilograms of raw opium and more than 113 kilograms of hashish.

In all, some 240 kilograms of narcotics have been seized by all Sughd law enforcement agencies over the first half-year of 2012, which is 106 kilograms fewer than in the same period last year.  The totaled included more than 61 kilograms of heroin, more than 155 kilograms of hashish and more than 22 kilograms of raw opium.
