DUSHANBE, July 26, 2012, Asia-Plus – A moderate earthquake hit eastern Tajikistan on July 26, at 6:07 am, Anastasia Kutuzova, an engineer-geophysicist, Geophysics Group at the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to her, the quake was centered on the Tajik-Chinese border, 220 kilometers northeast of Khorog.
In the epicenter, the quake measured a magnitude of 5.0 and a tremor measuring 4.0 on a 12-point scale could be felt in Khorog, the administrative center of Gorno Badakhshan. No damage or injury was reported, Kutuzova said
