Russia, Ukraine allot Tajikistan quotas of totaling 100 students

DUSHANBE, April 1, Asia-Plus  — Russia and Ukraine have already allotted Tajikistan quotas of totaling 100 students for this academic year, Abduvahhob Abdulazizov, the head of the department for international relations within the Ministry of Education (MoE).

According to him, a quota of 70 students has been allotted by Russia and a quota of 30 students has been allotted by Ukraine.  Of 30 education permits allotted by Ukraine, 10 are intended for Ukrainian-speaking citizens, the Moe official said.    

“Lat year, Russia allotted the same number of education permits for Tajik students, but at request of the Tajik side it was increased to 130,” Abdulazizov said, adding that this year, they will also seek larger quota for Tajik students to Russia.

According to him, Russia also allots a quota of 20-30 students for Russian nationals living in Tajikistan.    

We will recall that last year, 336 Tajik citizens entered higher educational institutions abroad.  The majority of them, 130 persons, entered universities in Russia.  25 persons, mainly ethnic Kyrgyz from Isfara, Murgab and Jirgatol districts, entered higher educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan.         

Another 50 students were sent to study in Iran, 20 entered universities in Turkey, 10 in Ukraine, 10 in Egypt, four in Japan, one in Slovakia, and one in the Czech Republic.  

Besides, by presidential quota 30 persons entered higher educational institutions in Russia and Kazakhstan, and 15 young researchers entered post-graduate and doctoral-candidacy courses in other countries.
