KHUJAND, June 8, 2009, Asia-Plus — A 45-year-old resident of Sughd’s Asht district Ashourali Rahmonov has got a jail term of 25 years for raping his minor daughter.
The Sughd regional court on June 6 ruled that Ashourali Rahmonov be given the jail term of 25 years and that he should serve it in a high-security penal colony. The sentenced followed his conviction on charges of raping minor or immediate relative (Article 138, Part 3 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code).
The source in the Sughd regional court said that for the first time, Rahmonov raped his 15-year old daughter on September 30, 2008 and “he raped her again in mid-October and early November.”
Rahmonov was found guilty of all charges brought against him, including rape and incest.
