DUSHANBE, June 8, 2009, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan has not yet begun supplying electricity to Uzbekistan in the summer-autumn season.
According to Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding, Uzbek authorities have not yet applied to Tajikistan for power deliveries in the summer-autumn season for unknown reasons. “We are ready to supply electricity to Uzbekistan at any time and we hope our partners in Uzbekistan will begin receiving our electrical power in the near future,” the source said, noting that Tajikistan should supply 450 million kWh of electricity to Uzbekistan in the summer-autumn season for exchange of the Uzbek electricity received over the past winter.
From February 27 through April this year, Uzbekistan delivered 251 million kWh of electricity to Tajikistan while it was supposed to supply some 300 million kWh of electricity to Tajikistan in the winter period. Uzbekistan should supply the remaining 50 million KWh of electricity to Tajikistan in the autumn, the source said.
