Tajik, Swiss MFAs conduct political consultations

DUSHANBE, June 12, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi yesterday met with visiting Head of the Political Affairs Division I of the Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs (FDFA), Ambassador Christian Meuwly, according to the MFA information department.

The FDFA Political Affairs Division I coordinates bilateral relations between Switzerland and the countries of Europe and Central Asia. In the multilateral field it represents Swiss interests in the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

In the course of the talks the sides discussed bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Switzerland, regional cooperation and cooperation between the two countries within international organizations as well as international and regional issues being of mutual interest.

Swiss Ambassador to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, Mr. Stephan Nellen, also attended the meeting.
