KHUJAND, June 12, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Subhon Kholmurodov, the head of the communications center at the Panjakent post office, and Farida Yusupova, an accountant with the Panjakent post office, have been arrested on suspicion of having embezzled funds for subscription, according to the Sughd police directorate.

“Kholmurodov and Yusupova have embezzled 2,323 somoni of 10,269 somoni collected for subscription,” the source said.

Criminal proceedings against them have been instituted under the provisions of two article of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – Article 245, Part 2 (embezzlement or misappropriation) and Article 323 (service forgery), and an investigation is under way.
