The prosecutor’s office of Nourobod district (Rasht Valley) has launched an investigation into the beating of a teacher by relatives of a 5th-grade student. The Ministry of Education and Science stated that it supports the teacher.
Muhimjon Rahmonov, a history and law teacher at school No. 1 in Nourobod district, was beaten in a car by the brother of one of the students after making a remark about his sister’s studies. Medical examination results showed that the teacher sustained injuries.
It was revealed that the teacher was beaten by Mirali Orzouyev, a resident of the same district. The incident occurred on May 8 in the village of Mehrobod and sparked discussions on social media.
Representatives of the district education department, without mentioning the suspect’s case, reported that they visited the teacher’s home and provided him with assistance.

The head of the district education department, Najmuddin Mirzozoda, told Asia-Plus on May 22 that the conflict between the teacher and the brother of the 5th-grade student began after the teacher, in a phone conversation with Mirali Orzouyev, stated that his sister was not preparing for lessons.
He added that after the incident, the teacher’s health was good, and he worked at the school for almost a week, but “suddenly his condition worsened, he was hospitalized, and medical examination results showed that he sustained injuries.”

Our attempts to get comments from the teacher and the person who beat him were unsuccessful. The teacher did not answer our numerous calls.
However, in a conversation with Radio Ozodi, Mirali Orzouyev stated that “he did not beat the teacher, but only talked to him.”
A representative of the police station in Nourobod district told Asia-Plus that the teacher’s complaint is under review by the district prosecutor’s office, Orzouyev has been questioned several times, “a decision on him has not yet been made.”
Meanwhile, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan told Asia-Plus that they support the rights of Mukhimjon Rakhmonov.
Meanwhile, Muhimjon Rahmonov’s mother told Asia-Plus that her son’s health has not improved yet, and he complains of stomach and head pain.
“My son was hit on the head and face, he was beaten. I took him to a doctor, who examined him, prescribed medication, and said to continue treatment at home. But his condition has not improved yet,” the woman said.
Recently, the Levakant court sentenced teacher Farhod Nazarov to compulsory work, against whom criminal proceedings were instituted for slapping an 11th-grade student.
Following this case, which caused mixed reactions in society, a law “On the Status of a Teacher” was adopted in Tajikistan. The aim of this law is to “enhance the status of a teacher, protect their honor and dignity, create favorable conditions for professional development, and provide additional benefits.”
