Tajikistan completes the spring military draft target ahead of schedule

There is still a week left until the end of the conscription campaign.

The Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan announced the complete fulfillment of the spring conscription campaign target.

The spring conscription campaign began on April 1 and was supposed to last until May 31. However, according to the ministry, the target has already been fulfilled 100% — ahead of schedule.

The Ministry did not specify whether the conscription of young people will continue in the remaining days of the campaign.

The authorities attribute the early completion of the spring military draft target to an increase in the number of volunteers, the provision of benefits to conscripts, and the conduct of explanatory work.

At the same time, experts note that after changes in the legislation on military duty, the authorities have the opportunity to enlist young people for service throughout the year. In their opinion, this may also contribute to the rapid fulfillment of the conscription plan.

Earlier, in early May, the Ministry of Defense reported that in the first month, the conscription plan was fulfilled by 93.5%. The authorities of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region were the first to report the fulfillment of the plan this season — on the very first day of the campaign.

According to the president’s decree, this year, citizens aged 18 to 27 — born between 1999 and 2008 — are being conscripted for service.
