250,000 somoni to be allocated for development of bee keeping this year

DUSHANBE, August 4, Asia-Plus, 2009  — 250,000 somoni have been allocated this year for development of bee keeping in the country.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), the funds were allocated in the framework of the national program for rehabilitation and prospects of development of bee keeping in Tajikistan in 2006-2010.  The funds have been spent for purchase of 500 honey bee families that have been distributed to beekeepers across the country, the source at a MoA said.

In all, bee-keeping farms in Tajikistan now have totaling 134,500 honey bee families, which is 16,000 families more than last year.

By government’s resolution of May 30, 2009 a Honey Day will be marked in all regions of the country on August 15.
