KHUJAND, August 19, 2009, Asia-Plus — Over the first seven months of this year, 68 Tajik national have been deported from Russia’s Tatarstan Republic, Asia-Plus has learned from Ms. Dilbar Khojayeva, a spokesperson for the representative office of the Tajik Interior Ministry migration service in Russia.
According to her, most of the Tajik nationals, who were deported from Tatarstan, were punished for failing to register within three days of their arrival in the Russian Federation.
Referring to information provided by the directorate of Russia’s Federal Migration Service (FMS) for Tatarstan, Khojayeva said that 9,271 Tajik nationals have been registered in Tatarstan since the beginning of this year. “Only 1,882 of them have been granted work permits,” said the spokesperson, “Last year, 14,405 Tajiks were registered in Tatarstan and 3,210 of them ere granted work permits.”
