DUSHANBE, March 2, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The mission of observers from international public association, For Fair Election, has noted that parliamentary elections were held in Tajikistan without any excessive violations.

Sergey Mirzoyev, head of the election observation mission of For Fair Elections, told reporters in Dushanbe on March 1 that Tajikistan held the parliamentary elections in accordance with international norms.  The elections met high standards of the voting process, according to him.

“We revealed inconsiderable violations during registration of candidates, the election campaign activities and on election day itself,” said Mirzoyev, “However, these violations did not have systematic nature and they did not affect the general picture of the elections.”

According to him, even these inconsiderable violations pointed out “the existence of political competition and political diversity in the country.”

Mirzoyev noted that the government should work a lot during interelectoral period.  He assessed positively amendments made to the country’s election law and administrative code.
