KULOB, November 12, 2010, Asia-Plus — 11,418,134 somoni of dilapidated banknotes have been immobilized in Khatlon’s Kulob zone over the first ten months of this year, which is 2,777,319 somoni more than in the same period last year, Abdukarim Nematov, the head of the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in Kulob, told Asia-Plus Friday afternoon.
According to him, the major part of the dilapidated banknotes was immobilized through the branches of Agronvestbonk in the area.
“Agroinvestbonk’s branches have replaced 7,012,270 somoni of the dilapidated banknotes with the new ones over the report period and the branches of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) and NBT have replaced 1 million somoni of the dilapidated banknotes each,” Nematov said.
