CIS government heads’ session to consider more than 20 draft documents

DUSHANBE, November 17, 2010, Asia-Plus — More than 20 draft documents have been tabled to the next session of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government that will take place in St. Petersburg on November 19, according to the CIS Executive Committee.

These draft documents are aimed at promoting further expansion of economic, humanitarian and security cooperation within the CIS area.

The meeting will consider draft decisions on establishment and functioning of free trade zones, dairy and meat product market, improvement of food security of the CIS nations and generation and consumption of power resources.

The CIS heads of government are also scheduled to adopt documents regulating monitoring of the key macroeconomic indices of development of the economies in the CIS nations, cooperation in legal protection of intellectual property, creation of joint tele-medical systems, etc.

They will also discuss the progress of implementation of the plan of the most important events aimed at supporting expansion of economic cooperation between the CIS nations for 2003-2010 and the plan of actions for implementation of the first phase (2009-2011) of the CIS economic development strategy for 2009-2020, as well as the process of development of the interstate targeted program for innovation cooperation between the CIS nations for the period until 2020.

The meeting will also consider the draft plan of actions for expansion of humanitarian cooperation between the CIS nations designed for 2011-2012.  This plan includes more than 150 events aimed at coordinating humanitarian cooperation for the purpose of further expansion and strengthening of ties between the peoples of the CIS member states.
