DUSHANBE, February 1, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Tajik farmers have completed a winter crop sowing campaign, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).

They have planted winter crops on nearly 205,000 hectares, which is 2 percent more than it was originally planned, the source at a MoA said.  202,250 hectares have been allocated to winter crops.

According to him, farmers have planted winter grains on 197,200 hectares against 194,700 hectares allocated to winter grains this year.  Winter wheat has been planted on 180,000 hectares and more than 16,000 hectares have been allocated to cultivation of corn.
