Tajikistan is not yet going to evacuate its citizens from Egypt

Date:

DUSHANBE, February 1, 2011, Asia-Plus  — A number of countries have begun to evacuate their citizens from Egypt, while Tajikistan is not yet going to evacuate its citizens from this country.

The Tajik FMA information department says, “We do not yet consider it necessary to evacuate our citizens, primarily students.”  Tajik Embassy in Cairo works in a usual regime and Tajik diplomats communicate with fellow-countrymen living in Egypt, the source said, noting that no one them was hurt.

We will recall that Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 29 warned Tajik citizens against tourist and other non-essential travels to Egypt in light of destabilization of situation in that country.  The situation in Cairo and other large cities of Egypt remains complicated and in this connection, MFA ordered Tajik Embassy in Cairo to take measure to ensure security of Tajik nationals living in this country.  Tajik citizens who are currently in Egypt are strongly advised to stay in places of residence and avoid travel around city and places of large gathering of people.

Nearly 1,000 Tajik nationals, primarily students, are now in Egypt.
