DUSHANBE, October 1, 2012, Asia-Plus — On Monday October 1, the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) endorsed the bill requiring amendments to this year’s national budget.
By government’s proposal 30,000 tons of fuel oil delivered to the country by Barqi Tojik (the state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Tajikistan) to the country for the Dushanbe combined heat and power (CHP) plant are exempted from customs duties and value added tax (VAT) in a total amount of 34.7 million somoni.
The bill also provides for exempting from payment of customs duties and VAT in a total amount of 12.5 million somoni for equipment and technologies delivered to the country for the Tajik-Canadian joint gold mining company, Aprelevka.
Due to new technologies, Aprelevka will be able to increase annual production of gold and silver to 2.2 tons and 7.7 tons respectively.
By government’s proposal the Khatlon stretch of Tajik Railways is exempted from paying all types of taxes in connection with Uzbekistan’s halting of freight cars bound for Khatlon province.
The bill also provides for exempting 20 head of Belarusian pedigree cows delivered to the country by the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) from customs duties and VAT.
The limited liability company, Asia-Express, is exempted from paying customs duties and VAT in a total amount of 5.6 million somoni for 20 MAN buses (Germany)delivered to Tajikistan.
