DUSHANBE, December 19, 2012, Asia-Plus — Mirgand Shabozov, deputy speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), heading Tajik parliamentary today departed for Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan for a three-day working visit.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says the main purpose of the visit is for the delegation to study experience of Kyrgyzstan’s parliament.
During their stay in Bishkek, Tajik MPs will also hold talks with senior representatives of the Zhokorku Kenesh to discuss state and prospects of further expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, Sultonov said.
The Supreme Council (Zhokorku Kenesh) is the unicameral parliament of Kyrgyzstan. It has 120 seats with members elected for a five-year term by party-list proportional voting.
