DUSHANBE, October 21, 2013, Asia-Plus — Afghan President Hamid Karzai arrived in Dushanbe today morning.
Highest level talks are taking place in Dushanbe today. Tajik and Afghan leaders are expected to discuss state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation and issues concerning regional security.
After the negotiations, a source in the Tajik government said a number of bilateral cooperation documents would be signed between the two sides.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai will sign a joint statement Rahmon and three government-to-government agreements on demining, insurance and border crossing points on the Tajik-Afghan border will be signed, the source noted.
During his two-day visit, Afghan leader is also expected to hold talks with Tajik Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Chairman Shukurjon Zuhurov.
