DUSHANBE, October 21, 2013, Asia-Plus – Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev yesterday held one more meeting to discuss preparations for the upcoming winter.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, says heads of relevant municipal agencies attended the meeting.

According to him, the mayor ordered relevant branches of Barqi Tojik (the state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Tajikistan) to take adequate measure to implement the government decree of March 30, 2013 on stockpiling 116,000 tons of coals for the city’s needs.

We will recall that Ubaidulloyev on October 14 ordered to take adequate preparations to ensure the regular work of the city’s economy during the upcoming winter, which is expected to be abnormally cold.  The mayor reportedly signed a decision on preparations for prevention of emergency situations that may occur during the upcoming winter.

An official source at the Dushanbe mayor’s office says that according to the weather forecast the upcoming winter is expected to be abnormally cold and lingering: from November through February.
