President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon departed today for a working visit to Kazakhstan. In Astana, he will participate in the Regional Ecological Summit (RES) 2026 and the meeting of the Council of Heads of State Founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

The deputy prime minister, the president’s aide for foreign relations, ministers of foreign affairs, energy, and some other high-ranking officials are accompanying the head of state on his visit Astana.

The summit and the council meeting will take place from April 22 to 24.

The Regional Environmental Summit 2026 (RES 2026) serves as a platform for uniting Central Asian countries in developing coordinated, practical solutions and mechanisms that reflect a regional approach to addressing climate and environmental issues, including the Aral Sea.

The main goal is to develop specific initiatives and mechanisms for collective actions to ensure a sustainable future for Central Asia.

At the meeting of the Heads of State Founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), discussions are planned on projects to improve the environmental situation, the rational use of water resources, and preparation for the next stage of IFAS program implementation.
