Tajikistan fall by 1 notch below in the RWB Press Freedom Index

International non-governmental organization Reporters Without Borders presented the World Press Freedom Index-2015. In the current ranking was showed information on 180 countries.

In Index Tajikistan is locating on the 112th place between Qatar and Macedonia. Compared with the last year rating of Reporters Without Borders, Tajikistan fall by one position.

Among the Central Asian countries in the Index there is only Kyrgyzstan (88th place) above Tajikistan. Kazakhstan occupies 160th place, Uzbekistan – 166th, and Turkmenistan – 178th place.

Russia in the current ranking of freedom press is on the 152nd place, and China on 176th place.

This year, as in the past, the most free media was recognized in Finland and the most unfree – Eritrea Media.

Press Freedom Index assesses the degree of freedom that journalists and news organizations, including print, broadcast and online media make use in the country, as well as the efforts of authorities to respect and ensure respect for this freedom. The study is based on the methodology of experts’ assessments.
