DUSHANBE, February 29, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov held a number of bilateral meetings in New York last week, according to the Tajik MFA information epartment.

On Friday February 26, Aslov held talks with Mr. Jan Eliasson, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, at the UN Headquarters.

The two sides reportedly exchanged news on cooperation between Tajikistan and the UN agencies and the current political and security situation in the region.

Aslov and Eliasson also touched upon issues related to Tajikistan’s initiative on management of water resources, including the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development,” the source said.

On the same day, Tajik minister met in New York with Ms. Ayse Cihan Sultanoğlu (Turkey) is the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations; and Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (RBEC) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Ms. Helen Clark, the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
