Republican Donald Trump will become the 45th president of the United States and its commander-in-chief. He defeated Hillary Clinton, the first female presidential nominee of a major party and a former first lady, senator from New York and secretary of state.
Tajik experts have expressed their opinions over Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidency.
The victory of Republican Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential election has shown once again that supremacy of law and observance of human rights are put above all things in the United States, deputy head of the Social-Democratic Party of Tajikistan (SDPT), Shokirjon Hakimov, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
“Replacement of a host of the White House will not lead to fundamental changes in the United States’ relations with Central Asia’s nations, including Tajikistan,” said Hakimov. “Irrespective of the president, the United States has always been consistent in protection of its interests and strategic goals throughout the world.”
Another Tajik expert, Sayfullo Safarov, who is the first deputy head of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, says that “Donald Trump has shown his strong character during the election campaign and voters have highly appraised his honest statements and deeds.”
“Donald Trump is more adequate and pragmatic compared to his opponent Hillary Clinton,” a senior expert from Tajik state-run think tank said, adding that Trump could do a lot for development of Washington’s relations with the CIS member nations, including Tajikistan.
Member of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament, Saidjaffar Ismonov, who is also leader of the Democratic Party of Tajikistan (DPT), considers that Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidency has given birth to hopes that there will be fewer wars in the world. DPT leader believes that “the newly elected U.S. president will bring softening to the world policy.”
“His entourage will not be able to influence him during the decision making process. Donald trump will make decisions on his own,” Ismonov said.
According to him, the majority of businessmen like Donald Trump are predictable and it is possible to come to an agreement with them on all problem issues.
