Umedjon Shirinov has nominated himself to the Tver City Duma (legislature), tvernews.ru reports.
According to information posted on the electoral commission’s website, Umedjon Shirinov was born on November 24, 1986 in Qubodiyon District of Qurghon Teppa Province (current Khatlon Province). He currently lives in Tver, and he was unemployed at the date of nomination.
According to information on the Internet, Umedjon Shirinov is the head of the Union of Youth of the Tajik Diaspora in Tver Oblast.
It is to be noted that one native of Tajikistan – Rahim Azimov — is already deputy of the State Duma (Russia’s lower house of parliament). He was elected to the State Duma in a single-mandate constituency in Kirov Oblast.
Rahim Azimov was born on August 16, 1964 in the Tajik northern city of Isfara. He graduated from the Leningrad Mining Institute. From 1994 to 1996, Azimov served as Trade Representative of Russia’s Republic of Komi in Moscow, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia’s Republic of Komi to the President of the Russian Federation, and Executive Director of the Northern Regional Foundation for Presidential Programs.
