A 39-year-old woman from the northern city of Buston (formerly Chkalovsk) has been detained with two gold bars at the Dushanbe airport, according to the Interior Ministry’s website. She was reportedly going to travel with the gold bars to Dubai.
An inspection of passengers on the Dushanbe-Dubai flight on July 26 found two gold bars totally weighing 469 grams hidden in a hand baggage of the 39-year-old woman from the city of Buston, the website said.
A total cost of the confiscated gold bars is reportedly more than 96,500 somoni. Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is underway.
