President pays working visit to Qubodiyon and Shahritous districts

On Friday August 4, President Emomali Rahmon paid a working visit to Qubodiyon and Shahritous districts in Khatlon province.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the main purpose of the visit was for the president to get acquainted with works of farming units in the districts.

While, in Qubodiyon district, the head of state reportedly got acquainted with the process of field works, including the beginning of the cotton-picking campaign and cultivation of vegetables.

This year, farmers of Qubodiyon district have reportedly produced more than 10,000 tons of cereals from 2,300 hectares.

This year, cotton-growing farms of Qubodiyon district have planted cotton on 7,510 hectares and they plan to yield harvests of up to 2.5-3 tons/ha.  

One of priorities of Qubodiyon’ economy is animal husbandry.  The district now has 1,769 head of cattle and 32,000 head of sheep and goats.

While in Shahritous district, the president got acquainted with operations of vegetable-growing farms and vineyards.

More than 2,000 farming units now function in Shahritous district.  This year they have reportedly planted various crops on 8,532 hectares.   

This year, farmers of Shahritous district have already produced 7,900 tons of cereals, 23,400 tons of vegetables, 2,500 tons of potatoes, 18,900 tons of melons and gourds, 2,800 tons of fruits, and 1,200 tons of grapes.

The website notes that Shahritous district has exported more than 4,000 of agricultural goods this year.

This year, cotton-growing farms of Shahritous district have planted cotton on 5,250 hectares rates they plan to yield harvests of up to 4 tons/ha.
