Deputy Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Tajikistan Shokirjon Hakimov believes that with the accepts of amendments to the law "On the regulation of traditions and rites" proposed by the government, the authorities will increasingly invade the private life of people.
"The proposed amendments to the law on the regulation of traditions contradict the basic norms in the field of human rights, the laws of a market economy, violate the freedom to carry out purely personal events, choose clothes," Hakimov said.
According to him, in some moments the authorities are penetrating deeper into the private life of the citizens of the republic.
At the same time, Hakimov admitted that in recent years in Tajikistan many wedding, mourning events were held by unconscious citizens on the principle of competition – "who is greater, who is better".
"Under the existing conditions, it would certainly be better to conduct preventive measures among the population regarding the conduct of rituals, taking into account the economic opportunities of each family, and not to prohibit everyone and everything by law," the politician said.
Hakimov is convinced that in world practice there are few examples when prohibitive laws would give the expected effect.
