The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan is looking for relatives of a girl named Maryam, who, according to Russian journalists from Tajikistan, was taken by parents to Iraq. The history of Maryam was shown on the Russian channel Russia Today.
Recall that in one of the shelters in Baghdad, a girl named Maryam was discovered, she is presumably a native of Tajikistan. This tells the publication of RT whose journalists visited the shelter in Baghdad, which housed children from Russia and the CIS countries.
These children – now orphans – have not seen a peaceful life and do not remember almost anything except explosions of shells, fire and hunger. How they live in the shelter, what they dream about and how they are trying to return to their homeland, says the material RT.
The publication notes that in the shelter is 8-year-old Maryam, who stands out among other children, she practically does not play with anyone. Her parents are probably natives of Tajikistan, who at first seem to have left for Egypt, and afterwards ended up in Iraq.
"I was born in Misra (Egypt)," she says. – There were two my sisters and a brother were born. Already here were born one more brother and sister. Both they and my parents all died when rockets were thrown at our house," Maryam says.
As head of the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan Umarjon Emomali told "AP", the ministry employees have already started looking for girl's relatives. "But the search is hampered by the fact that the girl was born in Syria, parents of her parent's in Tajikistan hardly saw the girl," Umarjon Emomali said.
But representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs do not lose hope to find relatives of Maryam, only relatives can take her from the orphanage in Iraq. The representative of the Ministry asks all those who could recognize the girl to call the hotline numbers – 221 21 21 or from mobile 1919.
Russian journalists also reported that three children were found in the orphanage in Iraq, whose parents are allegedly from Tajikistan, but the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan still has information only about Maryam.
According to the UN, currently in the territory of Syria and Iraq and in other conflict zones, there are 234 Tajik families, consisting of 840 people. Among them, 309 men, 279 women, 110 girls and 142 boys.
