The Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Tajikistan Elizabeth Millard received a new appointment and departs Dushanbe. As an ambassador, she stayed a little more than one and a half years in Tajikistan, having received an appointment here at the end of 2015
According to the official website of the US Embassy in Tajikistan, on August 31, Ambassador Millard will depart Tajikistan to assume a senior position in the State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
The US embassy's website reported: «While she is honored to be named to such a high-ranking position, Ambassador Millard is very sad to be leaving Tajikistan. Over the last year and a half, she has enjoyed Tajikistan’s breathtaking natural beauty, its rich culture and language, and especially the unforgettable hospitality of its people».
As the American diplomatic mission notes, during Elizabeth Millard's tenure as ambassador, the United States and Tajikistan have strengthened the C5+1 platform to allow the United States and the five countries of Central Asia to work together on issues of common concern.
The two countries celebrated 25 years of diplomatic relations, reflecting on the progress in education, health, business, agriculture, and military cooperation that this partnership has promoted.
«The staff at U.S. Embassy Dushanbe is proud to have served with Ambassador Millard and wishes her the best on her new assignment and responsibilities», – the website of the US Embassy write.
A new U.S. Ambassador has not yet been named. Deputy Chief of Mission Kevin Covert will assume the role of Chargé d’Affaires after Ambassador Millard leaves on August 31.
