The Government of Tajikistan proposes to raise heat energy prices by 15 percent beginning on October 1, this year.
According to an appropriate governments decree, the price for gigacalorie (Gcal) for residential customers will be raised from 6.65 somoni to 7.63 somoni (14.6 percent increase).
The heating rate for federally funded institutions will be raised from 51 somoni to 58.65 somoni (15 percent increase), while the heating rate for other customers will be raised from 196.3 somoni to 225.74 somoni (14.9 percent increase).
Last year, residential customers were paying to the Dushanbe heating system network for heating at the rate of 1.03 somoni per one square meter of floor space per month.
In Tajikistan, only Dushanbe is provided with the centralized heating supply, and only the part of the city has access to the heating system network.
If the heating rate for residential customers will be raised by 15 percent, they will pay at the rate of 1.18 somoni per one square meter of floor space per month.
Meanwhile, Barqi Tojik (Tajikistan’s national integrated power company) says the preparations for the upcoming heating season are on a full scale. To-date, its enterprises have reportedly stored 700,000 of coal and more than 2,300 tons of fuel oil.
