During a visit to Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), Deputy Prime Minister, Azim Ibrohim, has sharply criticized local officials for failing to take adequate preparations for the upcoming winter, a source in the government told Asia-Plus in an interview.
His criticism came during an address to a meeting of the republican commission on preparation of the region for autumn-winter 2017-2018 in Khorog.
Ibrohim reportedly criticized regional and district commissions, noting that their statistical estimates have varied.
Although, necessary funds have been allocated for purchase of coal for local facilities in mid-September, only 84 percent of educational facilities, 68 percent of medical facilities and 85 percent of cultural facilities have been provided with coal so far.
The deputy prime minister also harshly criticized the regional road maintenance management system, which has to date met only 21 percent of its requirements in fuels.
It was also noted that local farms had failed to stockpile enough fodders for the upcoming winter, the source said.
Speaking at the meeting, Ibrohim reportedly expressed satisfaction with the level of development of the industrial sector in the Darvoz district and ordered administrators of the Ishkashim and Murgab districts to take measures to ensure development of their industrial sectors.
