According to the findings of an annual survey, Partners of Russia in Post-Soviet Area, conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM), Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspire trust in only 3 percent of Russians. Belarusian and Kazakh presidents are the most confident among the heads of the CIS nations.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashneko inspires trust in 62 percent of those surveyed and Kazakh leader Nursultan Nazarbayev inspires trust in 56 percent of those surveyed.
Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko is the less confident; he reportedly inspires trust in only 1 percent of those surveyed.
Other CIS leaders inspire trust in 4 to 12 percent of those surveyed. Thus, Turkmen President Qurbanquly Berdimuhamedov reportedly inspires trust in 5 percent of those surveyed.
60 percent of those surveyed consider that Belarus is most stable and successful nation among the CIS member states.
The overwhelming majority of those surveyed named Belarus and Kazakhstan as the main partners of Russia — 64 percent and 57 percent respectively.
The Russian Public Opinion Research Center has conducted the phone survey among 1,200 respondents in different regions of the Russian Federation.
