Seasonal rise in passenger fares on flights to Moscow reportedly affect Tajikistan’s inflation rate

In January this year, Tajikistan’s inflation rate stood at 0.4 percent, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

Tajik central bank says increase in prices and rates for services rendered to the population has affected the inflation rate.

Thus, seasonal rise in passenger fares on the Dushanbe-Moscow flight has stood 82.2 percent, the NBT noted.  

During January, prices and rates for services rendered to the population reportedly increased by 2.9 percent.  Non-foods last month rose in cost by 0.1 percent.

Meanwhile, prices for food products in January fell 0.1 percent.   

Recall, Tajikistan’s year-end inflation for 2017 has been estimated at 6.7 percent.

Tajik central bank had previously forecast that the year-end inflation for last year would to stand at 7.0 percent.

The share of products of the food industry in the year-end inflation for 2017 was reportedly 4.3 percent, the share of non-foodstuffs was 1.2 percent and the share of services rendered to the population was 1.2 percent.

The government reportedly plans to keep the year-end inflation for this year at 7.0 percent.
