Opportunities of investing in Tajikistan’s economy were presented to Saudi entrepreneurs at a joint Tajik-Saudi investment forum that took place in Dushanbe on May 10.
Speaking at the forum, Farrukh Hamralizoda, the head of the State Committee on Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), noted that Tajikistan had created all necessary conditions for doing business and developing favorable investment climate.
The government has taken measures to support development of the real sector of economy and simplify rules of regulating the entrepreneurial activity, Hamralizoda stressed, according to the GosKomInvest press center.
He reportedly outlined sectors like energy, mining, agriculture, tourism and transportations as areas which could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia.
Business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2g) meetings reportedly took place on the sidelines of the event.
A similar joint investment forum took place in Khujand, the capital of the Tajik northern province of Sughd, on May 9.
Recall, a delegation of Saudi entrepreneurs was in Tajikistan to get acquainted with opportunities of investing in Tajikistan’s economy.
As it had been reported earlier, the second session of the Tajik-Saudi commission for trade and economic cooperation took place in Riyadh on April 1-2.
Co-chaired by Farrukh Hamralizoda, Chairman of GosKomInvest and Dr. Ayedh bin Hadi Al-Otaibi, Deputy Governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) for Developing Investment Environment, the meeting focused on issues related to economic cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting participants reportedly discussed issues related to expanding bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia in the fields of commerce, agriculture, investment, energy, transport, tourism, education and culture.
They also discussed the possibility of setting up the Joint Direct Investment Fund and the Business Council.
On the sidelines of the session, Hamralizoda held talks with Dr. Ayedh bin Hadi Al-Otaibi, Eng. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Bawardi, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Investment of Saudi Arabia and Yousef Ibrahim Albassam, Managing Director of the Saudi Fund for Development.
Meanwhile, two meetings of representatives of the business communities of Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia reportedly took place in Riyadh and Jeddah on April 2 and 3.
In 2007-2017, entrepreneurs from Saudi Arabia reportedly invested 160.2 million U.S. dollars in Tajikistan’s economy.
