During a working visit to the northern Tajik district of Shahriston, President Emomali Rahmon has called on residents of the district to strengthen friendship with Uzbekistan, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
His call came during an address to a meeting of regional administrators in the administrative center of the district on June 24.
Tajik leader noted that ethnic Tajiks and ethnic Uzbeks have lived in peace and accord in Shahriston.
Today morning, the president arrived in the northern city of Istaravshan, where he will get acquainted with the social and economic situation in the city and settlements subordinate to it.
While in Istaravshan, Rahmon will also inaugurate a number of social and economic facilities and attend events dedicated to the 21st anniversary of the peace accord ending civil war in the country.
