One more community facility has been put in commission in Dushanbe by Tajikistan’s Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 9.
An official opening ceremony of the renovated Abulqosim Firdavsi (formerly Peoples’ Friendship) Park that took place yesterday was attended by President Emomali Rahmon and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali.
Recall, Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali signed a decree on renaming Peoples’ Friendship Park on September 4.
The work on renovation of this park has been financed by the Dushanbe Mayor’s Office, the Tax Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, the Khatlon Regional Administration and local entrepreneurs.
Established in 1972, the Peoples’ Friendship Park is an urban park in Dushanbe. It covers an area of 30 hectares.
The Khatlon authorities have financed improvement of 41,000 square meters of the park’s alleys and planting of trees in an area of 4.2 hectares.
In all, 6,468 different tress and 35,000 decorative and seasonal flowers have been planted in the park.
The Tax Committee has financed construction of four mini football fields, tennis court, and children’s playground as well the administrative building of the park.
Local entrepreneurs have financed construction of a rollerdrome, computer game hall and sportswear shop.
Besides, a 1,500-seat amphitheater has been built in the park and parking lot for 250 cars has been built on both sides of the entrance to the park.
