Source: Amnesty will be announced in Tajikistan

Date:

About the fact that an amnesty is being prepared in Tajikistan, "AP" was informed by a source in the Ministry of Justice of the country: Perhaps those who are called political prisoners will be released.

A document on the amnesty of 182 people is being prepared. The list is in the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor General's Office of Tajikistan.

"As far as I know, some prominent people who are called political prisoners can be released ", – a source said.

The source did not disclose to what date an amnesty will be timed.

Meanwhile, spokesman of the Ombudsman Sayod Rakhimov said that there are no political prisoners in Tajikistan.

"Those people who are said to be political prisoners are held accountable for specific articles ", – he said.

The Human Rights Ombudsman Zarif Alizoda has repeatedly said this earlier:

«Legislation of Tajikistan does not provide for punishment for political reasons, there is no such punishment in our country at all».

Yesterday, Ferghana Information Agency reported that a well-known Tajik political scientist, first deputy director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan Saifullo Safarov, said in Warsaw that political prisoners in the country would soon be released. The edition refers to the leader of the terrorist organization Islamic Revival Party (IRP), banned in Tajikistan, Mukhiddin Kabiri, who gave interview to the publication.

According to him, writes the publication, on the sidelines of the annual OSCE meeting on human rights in Warsaw, him allegedly was told about it by Safarov himself.

«Mr. Safarov said that all political prisoners will soon be released. He even called the number – 183 people, and mentioned Zaid Saidov, Mahmadali Hait and other opposition members, members of our party, activists and my deputies», – “Fergana” quotes Kabiri

"AP" has not yet managed to contact Saifullo Safarov to confirm or deny this message. However, our source in the government said that the conversation took place: « Kabiri approached Saifullo Safarov himself and began a dispute about the prisoners, to which Safarov replied that they would soon be released ».

Safarov: «We came to not sort out with our opposition»

Meanwhile, in Youtube there was a video with Saifullo Safarov's speech at the OSCE conference in Warsaw. In it, in particular, he expressed his opinion about the presence at the conference of representatives of the IRP.

«Tajikistan, as a member of the OSCE, has every right to demand compliance with the obligations that both sides have assumed. So let our opposition think about this a little. I do not know whether to cry or laugh or smile better, probably because it's very illiterate, very simply said that there is in fact», – Sayfullo Safarov stated.

He further noted that in Tajikistan constitutional reforms were carried out, laws on human rights and the electoral process were being improved.

«But, unfortunately, or fortunately, in the last elections our people did not choose two parties of totalitarian character. This is the Islamic Revival Party, which later turned into a terrorist organization and the Communist Party. But the Communists still work and live, and no one has anything against them, since they did not aggressively act against our population», – Safarov noted.

In the end, he noted: «We came to not sort out with our opposition, but to declare that our position is in the joint struggle against terrorism and extremism. Your efforts to return our citizens to their homeland, we consider as ensuring their rights, because many are lost their way. They are just young, they do not know much about the organization this party (IRV, – editor's note).
